After a recent Twitter exchange, Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty may have a new campaign strategy: Conan O'Brien's hair.
O'Brien, late night comedian and host of "Conan" on TBS, poked fun at the former Minnesota governor's personality in a tweet Monday:
"Is it too early to predict that Tim Pawlenty will not be a popular Halloween costume?"
Two hours later Pawlenty jokingly fired back at O'Brien, who's known for his mane of red hair.
"@ConanOBrien Wait until I unveil my Team Coco wig then everyone will want the costume. It might even deliver IA for me #ginger #iacaucus"
O'Brien responded: Hey @timpawlenty – If wearing a Team Coco wig helps you win in Iowa, it’s probably because Iowans think it’s corn silk.
Pawlenty has been the subject of criticism for lacking the charm and charisma expected of a presidential candidate. In an interview on "Fox News Sunday" in June, the Republican said he's unapologetic for his style.
"I'm not running for comedian-in-chief, or entertainer-in-chief," Pawlenty said. "So, if you want the clown-in-chief, vote for somebody else. That's not me."
TBS, like CNN, is a part of Time Warner, Inc.
